When the heart warns us

When the heart warns us
By Dr. Anwar Monroy

Our heart is a muscle that bears a tremendous responsibility. The heart is constantly working to assure that our body functions adequately and it is the center of our vitality. When the heart fails, the whole body is compromised and there are things that must be considered.

Angina or chest pain is the most common indication that a person might have a heart problem or coronary disease. Angina’s symptoms are discomfort, heaviness, pressure, aching, burning, fullness, squeezing, or painful feeling in your chest, but it can also be mistaken for indigestion or heartburn, hence the importance of always consulting a doctor. Other severe angina symptoms can be acute pain in the shoulders, back, arms, neck, throat, or the jaw. There are other warnings that might indicate that somebody could have coronary artery disease.

Shortness of breath, palpitations, which are irregular heartbeats, or a strange, discomforting feeling in your chest, a faster heartbeat, recurrent weakness or dizziness, recurrent nausea and profuse sudden extreme sweating might also be warnings of a heart disease. As I noted before, it is always important to see a doctor before coming to any conclusions; remember that the symptoms mentioned above could be mistaken for a different health problem.
